What is health coaching?

Health coaching is an active relationship between the coach and client that is time centered and goal driven. We work together to outline your health challenges, optimize the best solutions, and implement strategies to achieve your goals. The process and structure are unique to every client.

Is my health coach a nutritionist?

No, I am not a nutritionsist.  I am a Certified Integratvie Nutrition Health Coach and a Certified Personal Trainer. Health coaches work in conjunction with nutritionists. I have studied many nutrition philosophies in depth as well as over 100 dietary theories. I don't prescribe specific diets or meal plans, but I do advise my clients on all areas of nutrition and help them understand a way of eating that meets their needs and lifestyle goals.

Is my health coach a psychotherapist?

While health coaching does not replace formal therapy, we do focus on bringing balance to many areas of your life that play a critical role in your overall health. In my transformative program, we will look closely at the all of the areas of your life that need better balance. As we do this work, many areas related to your overall nutrition will begin to heal themselves. Some critical issues may require formal therapy with a licensed psychotherapist.

What if I don't know if health coaching is right for me?

Let’s talk about it! Your first session is free and it gives us both a chance to see if the client/coach relationship is going to be a good fit. We can talk about what’s on your mind, and some specific health issues you may be facing and see if we agree that coaching is the right course of action.

Will health coaching replace my regular doctor visits?

Definitely not. I work in harmony with your primary physician. Many visits to the doctor are brief and, while your doctor may want you to make critical health changes, he or she doesn't spend that extra time with you helping you succeed.  As your health coach, I act as your advocate to help you make diet and lifestyle changes that your doctor has recommended. I may also talk with you about things to improve your health that you can discuss with your doctor when you see him/her.

Will we talk about nutrition?

Absolutely. Health coaching is a heavily based in nutrition. We will explore nutrition topics that are most relevant to you and your lifestyle. We can talk about everything from food labeling, to the effects of sugar on your health, and countless other areas of interest. The important thing is to know that we focus on the things that are important to you.
